Hiroyuki Iseki
Hiroyuki (Hiro) Iseki is an Associate Professor of Urban Studies and Planning and a Research Affiliate with the National Center for Smart Growth. He currently directs the Urban and Regional Planning and Design (URPD) Ph.D. program at the School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation.
Gerrit Knaap
Gerrit-Jan Knaap is Professor of Urban Studies and Planning the University of Maryland. Knaap earned his B.S. from Willamette University, his MA and PhD from the University of Oregon, and received post-doctoral training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, all in economics.
Isabelle Gournay
A native of France and a resident of Historic Greenbelt, Isabelle Gournay received a professional degree in architecture from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and a doctorate in art history from Yale University. She co-edited Paris on the Potomac. The French Influence on the Architecture and Art of Washington, D.C.
Jennifer Egan
Dr. Egan is a program manager with the University of Maryland Environmental Finance Center. She has worked as professional geologist and principal scientist on multidisciplinary water resource projects and research. She provides technical and regulatory expertise, project planning and design with a focus on cost-effective and sustainable solutions for clients.
John Sprinkle, Jr.
After working as a private sector historic preservation consultant for a decade, John Sprinkle served as a historian for the National Park Service from 1989 to 2022. He holds a doctorate in American history and a master’s degree in historical archaeology from the College of William and Mary. Dr.
Julia Marchetti
Trained as an urban planner and historian, Julia is passionate about equitable development and climate justice at the neighborhood scale, recognizing communities as interconnected social, cultural, economic, and environmental ecosystems. She is interested in the idea of healing through community-led policy, design, and preservation interventions.
Kristen Stack
Kristen Stack is the Director of Student Services for the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. She oversees graduate and undergraduate academic advising, recruitment and admissions, scheduling, career services and commencement for the college.
Michael Carlos Kleiss
Michael Kleiss comes from a multidisciplinary background trained in Architecture, Engineering, Computer Science, Music, Film and Fine Arts. He received a Master of Architecture from Pratt Institute with a focus on Structural Morphology and worked in New York city designing skyscrapers.
Paula Riff
In 2019, I migrated to the United States and embarked on a career in education administration. Before this transition, I had a diverse professional background, having worked as both a lawyer and in the film industry. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Law in 2010, followed by a Bachelor's degree in Communications in 2015.
Richard Etlin
Richard Etlin is an architectural historian who joined the faculty in August 1981. In 2000 he was awarded the rank of Distinguished University Professor. In 1998 Etlin became the founding director of the Restoring Ancient Stabiae project (RAS), a post that he held until he left RAS in May 2003. He retired in summer 2012.
Robert Lindley Vann
Professor Emeritus Robert Lindley Vann is a distinguished educator in architectural history, alternating with other faculty in teaching basic survey classes and offering advanced courses in Greek, Roman, Islamic, and Pre-Columbian architecture.
