Biography:Michelle G. Magalong, PhD is a scholar-activist committed to elevating the stories of underrepresented peoples and places through historic preservation, planning, and public policy.
Danish Kumar
Biography:Danish joined EFC as a Program Manager in August 2024. He holds a master’s in civil engineering from the University of Wyoming, where his research focused on energy transition technologies, including hydrogen transportation, carbon capture and storage infrastructure, and the safety of small modular reactors.
Kristin Mielcarek
Biography:Kristin has more than 17 years of experience in the fields of environmental restoration, watershed planning, grants coordination and education, with a focus on mitigating the effects of climate change and increasing climate resiliency.
Leo Pierce
Biography:Leo (he/they) has worked in the Mid-Atlantic and North East addressing community housing insecurity, environmental planning and climate resilience, and food sovereignty. He spent the last year farming on both urban and rural farms, leading education and engagement events on food justice and regenerative agriculture models.
Natalia Sanchez
Biography:Natalia joined EFC in April 2018 to research, plan, and compile content for the Municipal Online Stormwater Training Center. Prior to EFC, Natalia was at the Anne Arundel Watershed Stewards Academy where she developed her on-the-ground skills and expertise in Stormwater Best Management Practices and community outreach and education.
Karen Gouws-Dewar
Biography:Karen Gouws-Dewar is a transportation planner at UMD that works on projects improving accessibility and safety. She has a background in planning and environmental science, and enjoys using analytical tools such as Python to find unique solutions to challenging problems.
Jamie Shanker-Passero
Biography:Jamie has a longstanding commitment to serving small businesses, previously serving as the Director of Programs for the Temple University Small Business Development Center, the Program Director for the Women's Business Center in New Jersey, the Development Director of the Philadelphia Mobile Food Association, and as the Commercial Corridor Revitalization
Alexander Chen
Biography:Specializations include desktop mapping and computer applications of planning and neighborhood housing policy.He teaches courses in research methods, housing, and computer mapping. Prior research has focused on housing alternatives for the elderly, as well as home financing options for the elderly. The latter funded by the Andrus Foundation.

Biography:Carl Bovill has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California Santa Barbara and master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California Berkeley.

Cynthia Frank
Biography:Cindy graduated from Maryland's Path B architecture program with her Master of Architecture degree, and is a licensed architect. She is the librarian and manager for both the Architecture Library, which she began in 2014, and the Art Library, which began in July 2022; she also runs the Visual Resources Collection.
