ARCH150: Discovering Architecture

Turn your passion for buildings, spaces, and cities into hands-on experience at the University of Maryland! ARCH150: Discovering Architecture is a three-week summer course for high school students that immerses you in the world of the built environment.

  • Explore careers in architecture and urban design
  • Meet inspiring architects and creative professionals
  • Explore the campus’ architecture and projects in the region
  • Bring your ideas to life with a design project
  • Work directly with talented peers with similar design aspirations

Along the way, you’ll earn three college credits, get a taste of campus life, and learn from world-class faculty—all while using the incredible resources of a top public university.

 

ARCH151: Intro to Digital Fabrication

Turn your ideas into physical creations through digital fabrication at the University of Maryland! ARCH151: Intro to Digital Fabrication is a hands-on course that introduces students to contemporary design technologies and computer-aided manufacturing.

  • Learn to use laser cutters, 3D printers, and CNC routers in the MAPP Fabrication Labs
  • Develop technical skills in CAD software, including Rhinoceros 3D
  • Transform digital models into physical prototypes and objects
  • Explore how digital fabrication is shaping contemporary design and production
  • Examine the relationship between technology, material, space, and society
  • Gain practical experience in innovative design and making processes
