Restoring a Main Street’s “Charm”
Architecture student Christophe Tanis discovered a bold way to gauge a neighborhood’s walkability while strolling down a city street in West Baltimore: He estimated the number of inches between him and a speeding bus. “There’s no safety buffer between the sidewalk and the road, and people are driving so fast,” he said. “It's not a good place for people to walk, period.”

Tanya Bansal
Tanya Bansal joined the Real Estate Development Programs at the University of Maryland in November 2014, and currently serves as the Director and Clinical Associate Professor. Bansal teaches Introduction to Real Estate Development Principles and Process course to graduate and undergraduate students.

Ashley serves as Program Coordinator within the Real Estate Development Program in School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. Previously, she worked as a Placement Coordinator where she placed students in internships. Ashley has been working in higher education for four years.
