Networking and Career Opportunities

Home Professional Development Networking and Career Opportunities

At Maryland’s School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, career readiness happens well beyond the classroom. Through programming and opportunities, support and guidance, you’ll gain the tools, experiences, and connections to launch meaningful careers in architecture, planning, preservation, and real estate.

Resume and Portfolio Development

Take advantage of workshops and 1:1 support at MAPP and the University of Maryland; we’ll guide you through drafting a perfect resume, asking the right questions in an interview, and presenting your work to potential employers.

Internship and Shadow Opportunities

Whether it's through MAPP’s career fair or our comprehensive internship programs, you’ll be learning on the job, with professionals in design, planning, historic preservation, development, housing and transportation showing you the ropes.

Lectures and Site Visits

Connect with the professional industry through lectures, demonstrations and organized site visits offered through MAPP’s programs, including an annual trip to New York, preservation advocacy on Capitol Hill, Bricklaying Day and more.

MAPP’s Career and Internship Fair

Held each spring semester, the Architecture, Planning, Preservation, and Real Estate Development Career & Internship Fair is your one-stop-shop to network and explore internship and job opportunities with top employers. Save the date for 2026: Friday, February 20th, 1:00 - 5:00 PM at the Riggs Alumni Center in College Park, Maryland.
