Design Hub Sessions

Design Hub is a weekly forum that connects students with leading architects and designers from across the region for open, design-focused conversations. Think of it as “office hours” with visionary practitioners—an informal space to exchange ideas, ask questions, and expand your perspective on design and the built environment.

Each session is driven by the students: whether it’s feedback on studio projects, dialogue on design theory and pedagogy, or discussions about emerging industry trends and methods of representation, Design Hub creates space for the conversations you can’t always have in class.

Join us every Friday in the Great Space to explore new design ideas, gain career guidance, and connect with the profession in real time.

Digital Design Workshops

Digital Design Workshops offer students the chance to build and enhance their digital drawing and design skills through experimentation with various software. These workshops aim to advance digital innovation in the academic environment by providing interactive sessions where students can refine their digital workflow and explore new possibilities in their design studios. The workshops have four primary objectives:

  1. Proficiency and discipline: Enable students to attain proficiency and discipline in essential digital design software.
  2. Productive work habits: Establish a baseline for productive work habits, allowing students to develop a rigorous methodological basis for creating digital drawings, models, and renderings.
  3. 2D and 3D workflows: Teach students how to differentiate and leverage 2D and 3D environment workflows for effective design and communication.
  4. Translating complex concepts: Enhance students' ability to translate complex concepts, applying these lessons to the design of objects and spaces.

Portfolio Workshops

A hallmark event of the fall and spring semesters, portfolio workshops help  architecture students put their best designs forward. Professionals from regional firms help guide best practices for curating, organizing and showcasing your portfolio to help land the job you want. The spring workshop coincides with MAPP’s Career and Internship Fair.
