The Stormwater Infrastructure Resilience and Justice (SIRJ) Lab focuses on infrastructural justice for stormwater management and resilience. Established in 2019 by Associate Professor Marccus Hendricks, the lab studies urban stormwater and flooding, emphasizing the socio-spatial dynamics of water infrastructure and green spaces. Dr. Priscila Alves has served as lab manager since 2021 and works closely with research projects and mentoring and supervising students.

Our research labs forward cutting-edge approaches to shed light on critical issues and discoveries within Maryland communities and beyond.

EFC is home to the hallmark Sustainable Maryland (SM) program, a free and voluntary initiative that supports Maryland communities in their sustainability efforts. SM helps Maryland communities choose a direction for their sustainability initiatives, improve access to resources needed to implement action, and be recognized for their accomplishments.

EFC is an applied research center that works with communities across the Mid-Atlantic to help advance effective and pragmatic policies, programs, and financing for environmental initiatives. We assist local, state, and federal partners as they seek to improve efficiency and impact, providing actionable recommendations anchored in sound data.
