Rebecca Garman

Rebecca Garman is currently a doctoral student in the Urban and Regional Planning and Design program at the University of Maryland. Her research is centered on how community resilience to climate change is related to and shaped by housing affordability. She is particularly interested in exploring the degrees in which the affordable housing sector is adopting resiliency practices in design, finance, and construction, and how that interacts with other physical and social manifestations of resilience within the built environment. Rebecca also works as a graduate research assistant for the National Center for Smart Growth (NCSG).

In addition to her academic work and graduate assistantship, Rebecca works at the Environmental Protection Agency, where she supports community-led planning efforts in the areas of smart growth, climate resilient design and adaptation through technical assistance programs, research, and policy work.
