Annually graduate students in the architecture program benefit from the generous support of local firms committed to developing the next generation of leaders in architecture. These opportunities provide students with paid internships as well as significant scholarship support. Applications are typically due in late November. The internship-scholarship opportunities typically include:
David M. Schwarz Architects Internship and Traveling Fellowship Award
This scholarship provides a 10-week paid internship at the office of David M. Schwarz Architects in Washington, D.C. and a significant stipend for travel and independent research during the summer.

Design Collective Endowment
Established in April 2000 by Design Collective, funds provide annual support to enhance the academic mission of the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

Jack Smith Kerxton Memorial Fund
Established in March 1994 by Barbara (Cookie) Kerxton, the Fund Committee (various relatives, friends and business associates of Jack Smith Kerxton) and Torti-Gallas Architects + Partners, this fund provides financial aid, scholarships and/or fellowships to students enrolled in the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

Gensler University of Maryland Alumni Scholarship
Established in 2015 by University of Maryland Alumni who are practice leaders at Gensler. The Gensler Alumni Scholarship fund provides scholarship and internship opportunities for graduate students in the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

Ayers Saint Gross Endowment Fund
Established in 2000 by University of Maryland Alumni who are practice leaders at Ayers Saint Gross. The ASG Alumni Scholarship fund provides scholarship and internship opportunities for graduate students in the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

WDG Architecture Fund
Established in 2018 by University of Maryland Alumni who are practice leaders at WDG’s Washington, DC office. The WDG Scholarship fund provides scholarship and internship opportunities for graduate students in the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

Eligibility
To be eligible for any of these internship-scholarships applicants must have:
- successfully completed ARCH 600/611 and ARCH 601 before beginning the Internship;
- intend to register for either ARCH 700 or ARCH 798/799 in the upcoming fall semester;
- be legally eligible for paid employment in the United States.
