Combined Bachelor's / Master’s Program in Real Estate Development

Through the combined undergraduate and graduate program in Real Estate Development, students in the Bachelor of Real Estate in Built Environment (REBE) and Bachelor of Arts in Architecture Programs can take up to three courses during their senior year to significantly accelerate their path to earning a Master in Real Estate Development (MRED). Traditionally known as a 4+1 program, this specialized degree helps students acquire in-depth knowledge and practical skills from a top-tier real estate development program and expertise in areas like construction management, materials and methods and negotiations. The program's industry connections give you a competitive edge in fields such as development, construction management and real estate finance.

 

The combined bachelor's / master's program is available to students enrolled in either the Bachelor of Real Estate in the Built Environment or the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture Programs. See below for full eligibility requirements.

Admissions

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must be a REBE or ARCH BA major
  2. Must be a Junior or Senior (Over 60 hours completed)
  3. Must have completed at least two (2) semesters at UMD
  4. Must have a 3.0 or higher overall GPA

Application Process

1. Students in the B.A. Architecture, or B.A. REBE attend a combined information session

2. Meet with your academic advisor to review your 4-year plan

3. Complete the Combined Application Form and submit.

4. Meet with the Program Director to review the Combined curriculum and get a letter of acceptance.

5. Submit a Combined Bachelor's/Master's Degree Form before taking graduate classes as an undergraduate.

6. Apply to the MRED program during your final semester as an undergrad. Please note that the graduate school makes all final decisions on admission to the MRED program. Acceptance to the 4+1 program does not guarantee admission to the graduate school.
