BetterBev Mid-Atlantic works with craft breweries in Delaware, Maryland, and southeastern Pennsylvania to help them assess operations and implement conservation and efficiency practices. This program is housed at the University of Maryland Environmental Finance Center and funded by a US EPA Pollution Prevention grant. We offer:

  • Technical assistance to identify opportunities for cost-saving improvements in the areas of energy, water, wastewater, cleaning & sanitizing, and more
  • Benchmarking to track utility usage and compare efficiency with other brewers
  • Research on costs, incentives such as rebates and grants, and payback periods for sustainability practices or equipment
  • Recognition as a BetterBev green craft brewer, if minimum performance measures are met in eight categories of facility activities and efficiency opportunities

Get recognized as a BetterBev green craft brewer
We are member of the national BetterBev program, a free environmental sustainability recognition initiative that helps craft beverage producers review their facility operations, identify process improvements, reduce business costs, and boost brandy recognition and profitability.Better Bev logo

Higher-performing facilities earn recognition based on the following criteria:

  • Safer cleaning and sanitizing
