Landscape design

EFC continued work with the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and the Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF) to strengthen interdisciplinary research on the economic benefits of nature-based solutions and landscape architecture. Building on three briefs EFC developed in 2025, this project convenes a diverse set of experts to better understand existing economic-benefits data, identify gaps and obstacles, and define opportunities to improve how benefits are collected, analyzed, and communicated—while aligning with emerging global goals and standards.

EFC co-facilitated an invitation-only, virtual symposium in March 2026 (across academia, practitioners, nonprofits, international organizations, and research groups). Following the convening, EFC synthesized discussions into a summary report that documents the challenges of measuring nature based solution benefits and collaboration opportunities, and worked with ASLA and LAF to craft recommendations for future actions. The report will go through partner review and revisions and be finalized with graphic design in August 2026. EFC will prepare and present an educational session at the ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture in September 2026.
