Md Saiful Alam

Md Saiful Alam is currently a doctoral student in the Urban and Regional Planning and Design Program at the University of Maryland. His research interests are focused on understanding the accessibility and equity issue in the field of transportation planning. He previously worked as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Toledo. He has several research works in the field of transportation that have been published in different reputed journals. He works as a graduate research assistant for Dr. Hiroyuki Iseki and the National Center for Smart Growth (NCSG).

Saiful presented several of his research works to Transportation Research Board (TRB), American Association of Geographers (AAG) and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He worked on several transportation related projects in his country (Bangladesh) and in the United States, where he achieved several awards and also gathered experience by doing internships in the organization that deals with transportation related issues. He was also awarded as a Top 10 finalist in the public space design project for the city named Wuhan in China, which is organized by Un-Habitat and WLSP. The research focus of his work mainly deals with the issue of public transport and understanding and evaluating the accessibility and equity situation to provide benefits for all the people and help the policymakers and planners.
