    UMD to Participate in U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2017

    Terps return to the competition arena to defend two-time winning streak.The U.S. Department of Energy has named the University of Maryland one of 16 collegiate teams to participate in the prestigious U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2017. The international competition, held biannually since 2002, challenges collegiate teams to design, build and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy efficient and attractive.

  • Maryland Architecture Students Honored at the 2016 AIA UNBUILT Awards

    Two current M.Arch students have been recognized for design excellence at this year’s 2016 UNBUILT Awards, presented by the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA|DC). Thuy Do and Haomin Yang won an Award of Merit for “Navy Yard Waterfront Vessel (The Vessel),” the result of last fall’s ARCH 600: Integrated Design Studio.

    UMD Joins NCARB’s IPAL Initiative

    The National Council of Architecture Registration Boards (NCARB) has accepted the University of Maryland’s architecture program into the Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) initiative. By blending experience and examination into the curricula, the initiative will provide students with the opportunity to compete licensure requirements while earning a degree, forging an accelerated path to professional practice.

  • UMD Announces New Dual Master’s Degree in Real Estate Development and Business Administration

    The University of Maryland College Park has approved the establishment of a Dual Degree Program for the Master of Real Estate Development and the Master of Business Administration. Proposed last fall by Dean David Cronrath and Alexander Triantis, Dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business, the decision comes in response to increased requests from students seeking to tailor the existing masters programs or desiring a comprehensive alternative to separate master degrees. The new degree will take affect spring of 2016.
