Home About News and Events News First Annual Colvin Case Study Challenge
Two people’s hands hold pens and point to a large printed map covered with sketches, notes, and colored highlights, suggesting they are planning or discussing a design or development layout.

The Colvin Institute at the University of Maryland is proud to announce the 1st Annual Colvin Case Study Challenge.  The Challenge is a national real estate paper competition, where projects are judged on the depth of understanding of markets, project valuation, finance, urban design, entitlement processes and operational issues by leading real estate professionals. This is a retrospective written case study documenting a recently completed (within 5 years) project in your region.

Competition Highlights:

  • The competition is open to any student or student team (up to three people) from a full or part-time graduate or undergraduate program in the United States.
  • Top three teams will travel to University of Maryland (College Park) to compete for one of three prizes (1st $10,000; 2nd $5000; 3rd $2500).
  • Students can form teams (1-3 students) either on an (a) extracurricular basis, or (b) faculty can include the competition in a course, (c) or as an independent study
  • If you, or any of your students, plan/hope to enter a team(s) please send the Intent to Participate form by September 15 to Carrie Chard at cchard@umd.edu.
