Water Security of Paraíba Municipalities: An Integrated Modeling of Climate Variability and Natural and Anthropogenic Dynamics
The SIGMA project, "Water Security of Paraíba Municipalities: An Integrated Modeling of Climate Variability and Natural and Anthropogenic Dynamics," funded by Fapesq-PB/FAPESP 2022, involves collaboration between UFCG, UMD, INPE, UEPB, IFPB, geo-T, and the SIRJ Lab. It assesses water security across basins, municipalities, urban and rural areas, emphasizing public participation for resilience. The study focuses on the Poções-Epitácio Pessoa (PISF) water system in Paraiba, Brazil. Using spatial analysis and community-based research, it addresses challenges like water modeling and climate change. Participatory strategies help communities understand and improve water security, supported by 346 surveys across five municipalities. The SIRJ Lab aids in community engagement and supervises students at UFCG.
