India: Chandigarh Urban Redevelopment Project
This interdisciplinary course explores urban redevelopment through site and market analysis, land use planning, urban design, real estate finance, historic preservation, adaptive reuse, architectural design, and sustainable communities. Chandigarh, planned by Le Corbusier, offers planning students a unique study opportunity. Students work in multidisciplinary teams, alongside local university students, to analyze and propose solutions for a study area, integrating urban design, market analysis, financing, and land use modifications. The program includes a mandatory on-campus orientation, with optional pre-program tours of India's attractions like the Taj Mahal and Jaipur.
Location: Chandigarh, India
Accommodations: Stay in hostels and a hotel in India.
