EFC is working with the City of Rockville to develop a new residential action menu tailored to the city’s programs, resources, and funding opportunities. EFC will work with a cohort of three Homeowners’ Associations (HOAs) to establish Green Teams, create individualized Sustainability Action Plans, and host an HOA Sustainability Summit.
The project goals are to: (1) better educate Rockville residents about the benefits of sustainability and stormwater best management practices, and (2) build strong environmental advocates who are more engaged in these practices at both the household and neighborhood levels.
Expected outcomes include an increased number of community sustainability and stormwater leaders; more projects identified through Action Plans to improve local water quality and community sustainability; more collaboration and partnerships amongst HOAs, local watershed organizations, technical service providers, and the City of Rockville; and more shovel-ready sustainability projects on HOA properties in the City of Rockville.
