As federal grant funding declines and philanthropic priorities shift, community-based organizations (CBOs) and small local governments increasingly need to look beyond one-time project grants and strengthen their internal capacity. The Chesapeake Bay Funders Network Capacity Building Grant Program helps organizations become more self-sufficient and better positioned to deliver long-term benefits for their communities, local environments, and the Chesapeake Bay.
EFC is leveraging our regional experience and trusted networks to expand and diversify the pool of competitive applicants for this program. In coordination with the Chesapeake Bay Trust, EFC has developed a targeted outreach plan, built accessible training materials, and established connections with eligible organizations—especially under-resourced and under-engaged groups in the Pennsylvania portion of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed—to provide clear guidance and hands-on support. EFC will provide intensive engagement to support the submission of at least five grant applications, which are open until July 15, 2026.
