For my research, I want to explore how urban planners can find ways to work with urban informality (particularly informal settlements) in cities of the Global South. I aim to focus my research on the intersection of governance, housing policies, and community engagement with an emphasis on how urban planning practices can be improved to ensure well-intentioned programs deliver equitable results. I am also interested in understanding how community-based planning can be implemented efficiently, effectively, and equitably.
