
Maria Day-Marshall

Maria Day-Marshall, Esq. joined the University of Maryland's Real Estate Development Program in 2017, serving as Director until 2025, and currently directs the Colvin Institute of Real Estate Development. She led efforts in curriculum development, faculty management, student advising, and course scheduling. Before her full-time role, she was a Lecturer since 2008.
Previously, Day-Marshall was with the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency, serving as Interim Executive Director and General Counsel, overseeing agency operations and legal matters. From 2004 to 2009, she worked at Fannie Mae as a Senior Business Development Manager, focusing on housing development projects.
With over 30 years in municipal finance, Day-Marshall held roles in the District government, including Treasurer, managing $6 billion in debt issuance. She consulted for the DC Water and Sewer Authority during its transition to an independent authority. In 1999, she joined Columbia Equity Financial Corp. as Senior Vice President, advising on bond transactions for various governmental entities.
She has lectured on municipal finance and received awards for her public service, including recognition from the DC Council. Day-Marshall is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University, a Juris Doctorate from the Catholic University of America, and an Economics degree from Fisk University.
