Julia Campbell ’20, M.Arch ‘22 Samanty Habib’ 21 M.Arch ‘23, and Judy Tram ‘20, M.Arch, M.C.P. ‘24 join an elite cadre of early-career designers selected for the Emerging Professional (EP) Awards Program Class of 2026, a leadership development and mentorship program through AIA Potomac Valley (AIAPV). Campbell, Habib and Tram will participate in a year-long mentorship program with members of AIAPV’s Fellows community. They were three of five individuals selected this year.

The Emerging Professional Practitioners annual competition honors and develops the next generation of architects and taps the talents of AIAPV’s Fellows. Winners are selected based on leadership potential by a jury of AIAPV Fellows. In addition to the year-long program, winners earn a $500 cash award and a $1,000 stipend for leadership development programs and networking opportunities.

Since launching in 2018, 16 Terps have been honored by AIA PV through their EP Program, more than any other school in the region.

Campbell, an architectural designer at Torti Gallas + Partners, specializes in both market rate and affordable multi-family developments. Habib is currently an architectural staff member at Smolen Emr Ilkovitch in Rockville, Md, where she has served as the emerging professionals chair for the past two years. Tram, who practices large-scale urban design for Perkins Eastman in Washington, D.C., was also the inaugural Richard M. Finkelstein Distinguished Graduate Fellow.

"Julia, Samanty and Judy are incredibly talented professionals driving the future of the practice," said Mohammad Gharipour, director of the Architecture Program. "This is a tremendous opportunity for them to continue to grow in the profession.”
