2025 Sustainable Maryland Certified Awards

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SUSTAINABLE MARYLAND CERTIFIED CLASS OF 2025!

2025 SM Awards

Sustainable Maryland honored 18 Maryland municipalities at the Maryland Municipal League’s annual Fall Conference on Tuesday, October 14 at the Wisp Resort in McHenry, Maryland. To date, 93 municipalities, or 59% of the state's 157 towns and cities, participate in the program, and 33% are currently designated "Sustainable Maryland Certified".

The complete list of the 2025 newly certified and re-certified communities, with their Bronze or Silver level status, includes: 

Aberdeen (BRONZE) (first certified in 2022, re-certified in 2025)

Annapolis (SILVER) (first certified in 2013, and re-certified in 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Bowie (SILVER) (first certified in 2013, and re-certified in 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Brentwood (SILVER) (first certified in 2019, and re-certified in 2022 and 2025)

Capitol Heights (BRONZE) (first certified in 2019, and re-certified in 2025)

College Park (SILVER) (first certified in 2013, and re-certified in 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Colmar Manor (BRONZE) (first certified in 2016, and re-certified in 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Edmonston (SILVER) (first certified in 2013, and re-certified in 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Frederick (SILVER) (first certified in 2013, and re-certified in 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Gaithersburg (SILVER) (first certified in 2013, and re-certified in 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Galena (BRONZE) (first certified in 2022, re-certified in 2025)

Havre de Grace (SILVER) (first certified in 2016, and re-certified in 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Hyattsville (BRONZE) (first certified in 2013, and re-certified in 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Middletown (BRONZE) (first certified in 2016, and re-certified in 2019, 2022 and 2025)

New Carrollton (BRONZE) (first certified in 2019, and re-certified in 2022 and 2025)

Ocean City (SILVER) (first certified in 2016, and re-certified in 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Salisbury (SILVER) (first certified in 2016, and re-certified in 2019, 2022 and 2025)

Thurmont (SILVER) (first certified in 2016, and re-certified in 2019, 2022 and 2025)
