Join us November 12 and 13 for the online 2026 SBAN Summit on Preventing Climate Displacement! Co-hosted by the Gentrification & Urban Displacement Lab at the Boston University Initiative on Cities, the summit will focus on equitable climate resilience and recovery strategies that keep small businesses in place. We’ll convene online from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET each day. Check out the agenda.
The summit will feature more than 40 speakers from communities across the country and abroad that are experiencing climate disasters and ongoing impacts from heat, fires, flooding, rising sea levels, and more. Session topics include:
- How to integrate small business anti-displacement and climate resilience planning
- How to help BIPOC- and immigrant-owned businesses access recovery capital
- Strategies to keep property in community hands post-disaster
- How to build and run community resilience hubs
- Policies to protect commercial tenants as climate investments accelerate gentrification
- Alternative insurance models
Attendees will also have the opportunity to talk with fellow advocates about how to help local small businesses recover from climate disasters, withstand ongoing climate impacts, and grow in place.
