Maggie Haslam

Director of Communications; Writer (2011-2018, 2019-2023)

Maggie Haslam is an award-winning writer with over 25 years of experience in communications, marketing and publicity. She joined the University of Maryland in 2011 as the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation's writer and has worked as a freelance writer and marketeer for the Office of Administration and Finance, the Center for Leadership and Organizational Change, INFO College and the A. James Clark School of Engineering. In 2023 she joined the editorial team at Terp Magazine and Maryland Today as the assistant director of editorial strategies, reporting on everything from moon rovers to UMD-themed vanity plates. She returned to MAPP in 2024 to run the school's communications shop. 

Prior to UMD, Maggie was a regional publicist for Walt Disney Pictures, where she handled promotions and publicity efforts for the Mid-Atlantic. Ask her about Matt Damon. She lives in Bethesda, Md. with her husband and three children.
