Lindsey May is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs & Strategic Initiatives, Director of the Kibel Gallery, and an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Maryland’s School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (MAPP). She is also the founder and principal of Studio Mayd, an award-winning architecture practice based in Washington, DC.
Her work across teaching, practice, and leadership has been recognized with honors including the Architecture League Prize, the AIADC Architect + Educator Award, MAPP’s Dean's Award, and MAPP’s Outstanding Educator Award.
Together with collaborators Britt Williams and Michael Ezban, May is advancing research on the impact of artificial intelligence on design thinking and education. Their work has been supported by a University of Maryland Teaching and Learning Transformation Grant and shared at leading conferences, including Teaching the Arts in the Age of AI (UMD, 2024), the Architectural Research Centers Consortium (Howard University, 2024), and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (Wentworth Institute of Technology, forthcoming 2024).
May’s creative experience spans a wide range—from residential and cultural spaces to installations, exhibitions, writing, and design research. She holds a Master of Architecture from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Michigan.
