Climate actions

While the scale of action required to address climate change is daunting, it is also an opportunity to build strong local community capacity. In FY23, EFC was funded by the Chesapeake Bay Trust Prince George’s County Stormwater Stewardship Grant program, to pilot a residential training program designed to educate and engage community members on climate change and empower them to serve as community climate champions that have the capacity to lead local climate implementation efforts.

Phase 1 of the Prince George's County Climate Stewards Academy (Academy) project was to design and develop a robust, highly sought-after, adaptive climate action program that residents in Prince George’s County will see as a valuable resource. The Academy initiative is designed to be a scalable and replicable model for developing climate leaders, building the resilience capacity of communities, and advancing local climate action throughout Prince George’s County. In Phase 2 of the Academy, EFC is adapting the program based on user feedback and conducting training with at least three additional cohorts to build capacity and foster climate action in Prince George’s County communities.
