Lecture by Silvia Vargas, Principal Planner, Calvin Giordano & Associates


BIOGRAPHY

Silvia Vargas is a Principal Planner at Calvin, Giordano & Associates in Miami, Silvia Vargas, FAICP, LEED AP has nearly 30 years of experience working throughout the U.S. and abroad. After starting as a public sector planner in the Florida Keys, Silvia’s subsequent private practice has spanned projects in urban, suburban, and rural contexts. She has directed scores of planning processes, many of which have received national or state awards for planning excellence from the American Planning Association (APA) and other professional organizations. Silvia has led or contributed to community visioning and comprehensive planning processes, parks and open space plans, regulatory codes and design standards, university campus master plans, community revitalization plans, and placemaking initiatives. Silvia currently serves on the APA Board of Directors and previously was a Commissioner of the American Institute of Certified Planners. She has chaired APA’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee for the past two years.
