Regional Planning Director

The Regional Planning Director will lead the Washington, DC regional office continuing to grow the firm’s reach and expertise in multimodal transportation, community, and environmental planning services.

Responsibilities

Leadership: 

  • Represents the company brand in a strong and positive manner to clients and community 

  • Managing operations and resources of the Washington, DC region 

  • Represents the needs and concerns of the DC office staff to the President and CEO 

  • Recruiting, growing and leading the DC regional team 

  • Supports and motivates employees to deliver high performance 

  • Ensures staff and President and CEO has sufficient and up-to-date information 

  • Serves as the management point of contact to clients in the region 

  • Decides course of action in operations of staff duties 

  • Oversees operations of organization of the DC regional office 

  • Manages financial and physical resources  

  • Looks to the future for change opportunities to business strategy, growth, and staffing 

Business Development: 

  • Participate in networking events related to Nspiregreen’s business practices 

  • Leads and participate in project proposals and business development initiatives 

  • Actively pursues business opportunities  

  • Develop and maintain client relationships 

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for the DC region and create reliable forecasts 

  • Drive revenue by prospecting and building a pipeline while simultaneously fostering personal relationships with potential clients 

  • Make decisions on new opportunities by identifying key decision makers, stakeholders, and overall scope of projects 

  • Work closely with proposal teams to ensure high quality and consistency in proposals 

  • Form teams with primes and subcontracts for proposal pursuits  

  • Prepare and participate in oral interviews  

 Strong Project Management: 

  • Oversee all aspect of project management including client contact, cost estimating and budget control, invoicing, project staffing, and quality control 

  • Leading all staff and sub-consultants 

  • Ensure Nspiregreen’s expectations for delivering quality in all assigned projects and deliverables 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, and 10 years minimum of experience in transportation planning, urban planning, civil engineering, environmental planning or related field 

  • PE license in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia 

  • Knowledge and experience in the DC region specifically awareness of the political, community, government agencies and stakeholders within the area 

  • Belief in the importance of public and stakeholder involvement 

  • Possess strong leadership skills to effectively manage a project and lead a team with minimal oversight. 

  • Proven public involvement, networking, and business development skills 

  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations in an office setting and various other environments. 

  • Basic understanding of the NEPA and Section 106 process 

  • Desire to learn and grow as a professional 

  • Some travel may be required to support projects and initiatives in other states 

  • Ability to work effectively in team situations, collaborating in support of projects and mentoring staff  

  • Strong understanding of transportation methods, traffic engineering, and planning principles to produce transportation projects and plans. 

  • Understanding of functional classification, multimodal planning, GIS analysis, alternatives evaluation, and environmental impacts. 

  • Master’s Degree in transportation planning, environmental planning, urban planning, civil engineering, or related field. 

  • Strong knowledge of the Washington, DC Region  

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Nspiregreen recently merged with CH Planning of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Regional Director position is new and the candidate will oversee existing Nspiregreen operations in the DC region.
