The Executive Director is responsible for the day to day management of the organization. The management duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
∙ Ensuring that the activities of the organization both reflect and further the Vision Plan. ∙ Assisting the Program Committees in developing the annual goals and objectives.
∙ Supervising the staff (Office Manager, West Baltimore Street Manager, Program Director, Marketing Director, Economic Director, Community Schools Director and 3 Coordinators, and Workforce Program Coordinator).
∙ Making recommendations for changes to the community plan consistent with the vision for the area. ∙ Fundraising: both operating and capital funds.
∙ Representing the organization at public meetings and with potential partners.
∙ Promoting and marketing the neighborhoods.
∙ Developing neighborhood leadership.
∙ Managing the fiscal affairs of the organization through support of the Finance and Audit Committee. ∙ Overseeing the physical development of key properties within the neighborhoods. ∙ Maintaining a communication system that ensures broad public participation in the organization. ∙ Developing alternative systems of providing services and development.
The successful candidate for this position must demonstrate 5 or more years of increasingly responsible experience working at the neighborhood/nonprofit level, formal training in community development, and the ability to manage financial books, successfully write a grant, and hold a leadership role in a volunteer organization. A candidate with a master’s degree is preferred.
