"Doors are Open to You": ARCH Alum Cecily Bedwell on the Power of Mentorship
When Cecily Bedwell (M. ARCH '96) was 13, she knew that someday she wanted to be an architect. It made sense; architecture meshed her interest in and affinity for both the arts and sciences. It suited the work ethic and focus she inherited from her parents—as well as the ability to survive on less than six hours of sleep passed down from her mother. So, while friends babysat, worked in retail and waitressed, she worked after school at Lavallee Brensinger, the largest architecture firm in Manchester, New Hampshire.

MAPP PhD Candidate Awarded Ann G. Wylie Dissertation Fellowship
Urban Studies and Planning Ph.D. candidate Zhenpeng (Frank) Zou has been awarded an Ann G. Wylie Dissertation Fellowship from the University of Maryland’s Graduate School for the 2020-21 year. The one-semester fellowship supports students in the final stages of their doctorate by providing a stipend, tuition and fees, allowing candidates to fully devote themselves to their dissertation.
