Robinson Terminal South: Preliminary Analysis for a City Block on Alexandria’s Waterfront

Life and Occupation on the Alexandria Waterfront: A Preliminary Analysis of the Historic Records and Archaeological Features of the Robinson Terminal South Site: Alexandria has a long history tied to commerce and development along the Potomac River. At the intersection of the city and the river is the waterfront; a place with a (literal) deep history of trade, industry, and occupation. This paper looks pulls together key primary resources and the preliminary field results of a two-year archaeological excavation to reveal more about the people who lived and worked on Alexandria’s 19th century waterfront.
