Urban Planner

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and talented Urban Planner for immediate employment in our growing Dallas, Texas office. The Planner will work collaboratively with all team members to cultivate planning concepts through diagrams, policy and plan writing, 3D modeling, and data visualization. The Planner will be expected to be proactive in their initiation, creation, and management of project tasks. It is important for the Planner to be able to engage in planning and design dialogue and effectively communicate with fellow professionals and clients across a wide variety of sectors. The Planner will need to be able to articulate questions and have a strong willingness to engage topics outside of their level and area of expertise. The Planner should demonstrate the ability, confidence, and desire to push the limits of what’s possible while seeking innovative solutions to planning and design problems, providing unique perspectives to the built environment. Responsibilities
  • Developing 2D/3D conceptual designs and renderings

  • Strong GIS and data analysis skills

  • Experience working with land use, zoning, and the development process

  • Coordinating efforts with multi-discipline team members

  • Strong writing skills catering to a wide variety of audiences that range from academic to the general public

  • Preparing/contributing to planning studies ranging across a wide diversity of sectors, including: urban design, master planning, urban resilience, economic development, sustainable infrastructure, water and environmental planning, and transportation

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Resilience Planning, Urban Design, or related field plus two (2) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Resilience Planning, Urban Design, or related field

  • 3-5 years of related experience

  • Experience working for a consultancy

  • Professional affiliation with or certification from AICP, ASLA, or AIA

  • Experience in land-use and/or zoning
