Responsibilities

You will represent Applied as one of our technical experts in the broad field of information planning. Working with our international team of planners and designers, this position is intrinsic to our approach and includes research, analysis, developing strategies and producing detailed planning guidelines for information systems. These systems are designed to assist navigation, interpretation and interaction with places, ranging from buildings to campuses to whole cities and regional transit networks. To provide this insight you will have a broad range of planning experience such as movement analysis, demand management, engagement and how projects are planned, regulated, delivered and operated.

You will be joining our growing office in the Bay Area. We also operate flexible working arrangements and support home working. This role requires an ability to travel to clients across the US and internationally.

Qualifications

We will select applicants based on merit including relevant experience, demonstrated ability, and commitment to the role. For this role we are specifically looking for people with:

  • Two to four years experience of wayfinding, transportation, transit operations, urban planning, architecture, master planning. urban design or related discipline.
  • Understanding of transportation as it relates to architecture, master planning and urban design
  • A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field such as planning, civil engineering, urban design, architecture, design. AICP membership is an advantage but not required.
  • Record of achievement in advancing projects through transportation planning, operations or regulatory processes.
  • Experience with planning and facilitating public or stakeholder engagement, or with directing market research, to support proposals.
  • Clear, concise and accurate report writing, an ability to prepare project proposals, and confident interpersonal and meeting management skills.
  • An advanced ability in industry standard text, messaging and spreadsheet software. The company uses Google Suite, Slack and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with project management software such as MS Project or Merlin would also be an advantage. Knowledge of and ability to work with GIS an advantage.
  • Fluency in languages in addition to English is an advantage. Spanish speaking applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.
