Transportation Planning Analyst (entry-level candidates/recent grads)

Kimley-Horn is looking for an upcoming or recent graduate to join our growing Planning team in the Reston, Virginia or Richmond, Virginia office to support the firm’s planning practice in Virginia and across the firm.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree from a program related to Urban/Regional Planning from an accredited institution  
  • 2+ years of relevant planning experience 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to write and communicate findings clearly 
  • Demonstrated experience in oral presentations and public speaking 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) 
  • Working knowledge of ESRI ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and/or StoryMap 
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills 
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Participation in professional societies or extracurricular activities 
  • Applicable internship experience and/or work experience 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) 
  • Background in transportation/transit, environmental policy, land use law, public policy, public administration, public health, or other related focuses
