Fairpointe Planning is looking for an experienced Transportation Planner who is relationship-oriented, outgoing, self-motivated, and passionate about public transportation. The Transportation Planner provides professional and technical support and assistance to the Fairpointe Team related to transportation planning analysis and technical reports.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

 Assists with transportation planning analyses for all levels of government transportation planning, long-range transportation planning and policy plans, transportation demand management planning, and public/stakeholder engagement, among others. Assists with transit planning, market research, finance and governance, public/stakeholder outreach, and transit-accessible design, among others. Assists with field review, minor data collection, and site/infrastructure assessments. Support project teams in data collection, data analysis, preparation of plans and maps, report production, and workshop/meeting documentation. Assists with writing and preparation of technical reports and documents and presentation materials. Assist with business development and proposal writing—other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering, Public Administration, Economics, Geography, or another closely related field. Five (5) years or more of relevant transportation planning work experience or any equivalent combination of related training or experience. A Master's degree is not required but is preferred.

 

Knowledge: Familiar with socioeconomic, land use and development, environmental impacts, demographics, travel behavior, and transportation demand concepts. Familiar with various transportation planning concepts, practices, regulations, and procedures. Familiar with federal, state, and local guidelines, legislation, and administrative codes regarding metropolitan planning processes and comprehensive plans. Able to participate in field review and data collection activities and possess a valid driver's license.
