Transportation Demand Management Administrator

Position Description

 

The Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Administrator is responsible for leading Nashville Connector, Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT)’s TDM program. The TDM Administrator will actively implement activities within the program that encourage commuters to use travel options that shift from relying on single-occupant cars. The TDM Administrator will oversee most aspects of Nashville Connector while working under guidance of the Transportation Planning Director with NDOT. Performs other related duties as assigned. 

 

 

The Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) delivers a range of services, and the nearly 400 employees work around the clock to ensure a multimodal system that offers choice and better connects neighborhoods, residents, businesses and visitors to the place that they need and want to go to in a safe manner. These employees are responsible for over 2,200 miles of public roadways and rights-of-way, over 6,000 streets, over 300 bridges, 835 traffic signals and over 1,200 miles of bike/sidewalk lanes and much more. Big events in Nashville consist of CMA Festival, Stanley Cup Finals, Titans games, and any number of special events. These require big preparation and big clean-up and the Nashville Department of Transportation employees are up for the challenge.

Responsibilities
Typical Duties

 

  • Manages Nashville Connector day-to-day operations.   
  • Engages and partners with local employers, facilities managers, vendors, parking operators, landlords, and other key partners to identify areas of opportunity for program initiatives.   
  • Oversees deployment, marketing, and operation of NDOT’s online commute platform.
  • Prepares reports and monitors program accomplishments to ensure compliance with funding partners as well as compliance with established Federal, State and Local guidelines.
  • Analyzes and makes recommendations based on TDM best practices supported by data reports from the commute platform, parking data, and transportation services.
  • Participates in NDOT’s development review processes to ensure incorporation of TDM goals in developer-required traffic impact studies.
  • Seeks grant opportunities in support of program objectives.
  • Coordinates the development of communication materials for employment hubs and residential managers to encourage use of transit, biking, walking, and rolling options. 
  • Plans, develops, and markets, TDM events, programs, and policies such as a commuter challenge or group bike rides.
  • Manages staff, provides job assignments, and approves leave time. 
  • Performs TDM-related special projects and duties as directed by the Transportation Planning Director.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 5 years of experience with transportation planning concepts, transportation demand management techniques, and communications/marketing for multimodal transportation as a transportation demand professional, professional planner or other related profession.

Valid Driver License
