Responsibilities

The Sustainable Transportation Coordinator supports the Assistant Director for Sustainability in implementing and managing sustainable transportation programs at the University of Maryland, College Park. The ideal candidate will have experience in Transportation Demand Management, sustainability and the implementation of programs and strategies to encourage commuter behavior change.

This position is responsible for managing several different transportation demand management projects and must be able to demonstrate initiative, strong decision-making abilities and project management skills. The Sustainable Transportation Program Manage supports the University’s goal of reducing the number of employees, students and visitors driving alone to campus, reducing traffic congestion and parking demand while improving the quality of the campus environment. This position will focus on increasing the use of sustainable transportation on campus through efficient and effective programs, marketing and community engagement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required and 2 -3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral, and ability to use sound judgment in following policies and procedures to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated skill in public speaking and comfort in representing the university and the department to the community and general public
  • High degree of energy and initiative, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft suite of applications is required
  • Experience with Excel and manipulating large data sets and spreadsheets.
  • Combination of education and experience that demonstrates the conceptual, analytical, project management and communications skills required for the development and implementation of policies and programs in a complex environment.
  • Knowledge of TDM issues and their application in a complex, university setting is desired.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite is desired
