This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Sr. Transportation Analyst in Baltimore, MD.   This position will provide ongoing, on-site support to our transit agency client as an embedded employee in our client's office.  Projects support transit service planning and will include analysis of financial and non-financial data in areas of asset management, financial management, economic analysis, and project development.  The selected candidate will enjoy an opportunity to work alongside state and local transportation officials in a dynamic office environment.  Be involved in projects with our Transportation Planning Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Perform QA/QC and data and statistical analysis, including big data analytics and troubleshooting, on in-house and outsourced projects and tasks.
  • Accurately prepare, forecast, and deliver routine reports related to asset management, data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, models, infographics, and 3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
  • Determine well-defined data collection methods for identifying and compiling observational, spatial, operations, and environmental data from multiple matrices for projects, research, and surveys. 
  • Conceptualize and develop new processes and tools to make daily activities more efficient.
  • Perform transportation planning fieldwork and assist with conducting investigations, inspections, studies, and surveys.
  • Support a defined geographic transportation service area, and be the primary point of contact for transit operations planning in that area.
  • Support the Project Management Team at the client site, and participate in project execution plans developed within the team.
  • Collaborate with and respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Planning Team to connect asset data and planning efforts for capital replacement and maintenance operations.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Operations Team to track work order and progress and develop maintenance operations plans.
  • Assist technical staff and project managers with the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of facts and data obtained during field and site investigations and provide input with developing action plans.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related discipline. 
  • 5 to 7 years of experience working in transportation planning, transit operations, or transit facilities planning with a focus on data analytics. 
  • Experience with the transportation project development cycle from planning to implementation.
  • Experience working with and analyzing large datasets, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and plans.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Access, Excel, Power B1 and Tableau.
  • Experience with Asana or other project management software.
  • General understanding of and experience with GIS and Google Map visuals.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Process-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to restructure, combine and streamline documents and processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience with the preparation of presentations and public speaking.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to attend public meetings and travel to project sites.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.
  • Experience with Remix for planning public transit systems.
  • Professional Licensure/Certification.
  • Transit operations experience (e.g., operator, service/operations/transit facilities planning)
