Shared Mobility Program Coordinator

Position Overview:

SDOT has an exciting opportunity for a Shared Mobility Program Coordinator (Senior Transportation Planner) in SDOT’s Transit & Mobility Division. This is a one year temporary position with benefits and eligible for an extension up to 3 years. The Transit & Mobility Division is focused on enhancing transit service and reliability, managing the demands of our City’s curbspace, and encouraging climate-friendly travel options for everyone.

 

The Shared Mobility Program Coordinator will work with the Program Manager to ensure smooth operations of SDOT’s bike share, scooter share, and car share programs, especially as the scooter program transitions to a permanent program. The program coordinator will have a key role in assisting with oversight of shared mobility operations, as well as evaluation and program design, managing vendor relationships, and managing education and outreach activities.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage outreach and education activities to expand access to bike share and scooter share and improve safety, in coordination with program team, vendors, and community-based organizations. 

  • Manage and streamline day-to-day operations for shared mobility programs, including but not limited to communications with vendors and the public and vendor reporting requirements.  

  • Conduct on-site audits of micromobility devices to track device operability and proper parking, communicating with vendors about their performance. 

  • In collaboration with the Program Manager, monitor and evaluate bike share, scooter share, and car share to ensure these programs are meeting goals related to ridership, equity, and safety. 

  • Lead parking management for micromobility devices, including identifying locations for dedicated micromobility parking, managing installation of physical locations, and mapping geofences. 

  • Evaluate locations for designated car share parking spaces and coordinate with vendors on permitting process. 

  • Support department goals in promoting diversity and social justice.  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning or related field 

 Experience: 

Three (3) years experience in transportation planning, urban planning, public policy, or management. 

OR: An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties. 

 
Successful candidates in this body of work will also have:

  • Experience conducting outreach, education, communications, and/or events to reach diverse audiences. 

  • Interest in active transportation and shared mobility 

  • Experience and/or interest in managing private-sector providers, especially shared mobility providers, such as bike share, scooter share, or car share. 

  • Experience using ESRI ArcMap and/or other mapping software. 

  • Experience with data analytics and program evaluation, and facility with Microsoft Excel and/or other software used for analysis and data management. 

  • Ability to learn to use new software, develop new skills, and readily adapt to a rapidly changing field. 

  • Ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.
