The Research Associate works in close collaboration with Research Department staff and others across APA departments to develop and undertake applied research projects, programs, and related initiatives. Key areas of focus include support for sponsored research projects, strategic research projects, foresight practice, other related APA programs and initiatives; and outreach to partners and funders.
Duties and responsibilities
- Supports research projects, including literature review, primary research, and creating project deliverables.
- Supports research initiatives and programs, including APA's foresight practice and Upskill Planners initiative.
- Collaborates with Research Department staff to identify, develop, and submit proposals for projects.
- Assists the Research team in networking and developing ongoing relationships with a wide variety of partners and funders to advance APA strategic priorities.
- Contributes to and promotes communications about research products, programs, and services.
- Submits proposals to and presents at conferences, meetings, and other venues.
Qualifications (Education and Experience)
- Graduate or undergraduate degree in planning or related field and one to three years of work experience in research or planning required.
- Demonstrated research experience necessary.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required.
