Responsibilities

An active member of the Housing Development Team, help facilitate Mi Casa's affordable housing development work through managing affordable housing projects; provide ongoing outreach and training and technical assistance to co-op members and tenants; analyze new project feasibility and financing strategies; work with a collaborative Team to develop affordable housing strategies and implement strategic initiatives.

DUTIES

Project Management/ Implementation of Affordable Housing Projects:

Key person responsible for coordinating all aspects of the project management process for assigned affordable housing projects, from conception through completion, ensuring that each development reflects Mi Casa’s mission and meets its goals. This includes:

  • Create and manage Development Plan and financial Pro Formas for all phases of each project (including start-up/ feasibility)
  • Develop and manage Project Timelines and Critical Path
  • Coordinate teams for the design and development phases, including bid/proposal solicitation and hiring of development professionals such as Architects, Engineers, and General Contractors
  • Submit, negotiate, coordinate Loan Applications, Closings and Draws
  • Monitor construction alongside a Construction Manager
  • Facilitate resident relocation as needed
  • Ensure project/ program compliance with local and federal funding requirements, including local hiring laws
  • Maintain consistent data and files as required for record-keeping and reporting
  • Additional Housing Development initiatives or special projects as assigned

Tenant Outreach, Technical Assistance and Training:

Work with the Housing Development Team to train and organize tenants who are forming Co-operatives, or assigning purchase rights to Mi Casa.

  • Communicate regularly with/ provide outreach to residents
  • Provide trainings to Tenant Associations to prepare them to make decisions and on different phases of development
  • Oversee tenant income verification process and household data collection (and other required collection of information from residents)
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance and trainings to Cooperatives to help them run efficiently (e.g., how to monitor financials, review and manage budgets.)
Qualifications

Related project management experience (e.g., housing development, finance, similar)

· Excellent ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets to develop and track pro formas

· Familiarity with affordable housing financing structures

· Highly organized, able to coordinate multiple, simultaneous tasks and disciplines

· High level of ability to develop and manage project timelines

· Strong belief in the mission of the organization

· Preference for bi-lingual (Spanish/English speaking)

· Familiarity with DC neighborhoods and transportation to travel throughout DC
