Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator will have a diverse and multifaceted role with Preserve RI, acting as staff support for various Preserve RI programs and communications. The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual who has a passion for historic buildings and sites, an understanding of preservation policy at the federal, state and local levels, strong communication skills, enjoys working as a part of a team, and has an interest in finding creative and adaptable solutions for statewide preservation issues.

Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator reports to Property and Program Manager. This full-time, entry level position provides support to PRI’s full array of statewide preservation initiatives:

 • Maintain and update the Community Preservation Response database and assist with community outreach projects. Includes responding to public inquiries and making site visits.

• Manage the Preserve RI historic preservation matching grant program, including processing/reviewing applications, scheduling and conducting site visits, monitoring awarded projects from start to finish, offering guidance to grantees, and submitting funding reports.

 • Assist with external grant applications and reporting narratives. Keep track of open grant deadlines and submit final reports.

 • Help coordinate Preserve RI’s annual Preservation Awards program, assisting with logistics and awardee communications. Includes managing the application process, scheduling site visits, organizing content material for video production, and facilitating the procurement of printed materials.

• Serve as the preservation representative of the Preserve RI Communications team by producing and delivering preservation-related communications materials such as website content and updates, e-newsletters, and social media.

• Assist with Preserve RI’s Preservation Easement program by conducting research, producing baseline documentation, and drafting prospective easements. Assist with tracking and monitoring new and existing preservation easements.

• Provide staff support for Preserve RI’s Special Projects, including the Aquidneck Stone Wall Initiative and construction projects through PRI’s Revolving Fund.

• Attend meetings and webinars with Preserve RI’s local and regional partners for collaborative projects and program development. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• BA in historic preservation or related field

• General knowledge of computers and competence with Microsoft 365 programs and Adobe Acrobat

• Proven ability in both written and verbal communications

• Ability to plan, execute and manage many projects at once with only general guidance

• High degree of initiative and maturity of judgment

• Excellent people skills and ability to work with a team

• Excellent organizational and time management skills • Must have valid driver’s license 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in historic preservation or related field

• 2-3 years’ work experience in historic preservation or related field

• Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, website management, and social media platforms

• Writing experience with a focus on preservation practices and architectural history

• Experience working with membership-based, nonprofit organizations • Nonprofit fundraising/development experience

• Photography skills
