Program Assistant

The position Is located in the State, Tribal, and Local Plans & Grants unit of Cultural Resources, National Park Service, Washington, DC. The incumbent provides a variety of technical and administrative support for the range of grant program administered by the Division, which is responsible for directing and coordinating the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) grant programs authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act P.L. and authorized by various other Federal laws.

Responsibilities

he major duties of the Program Specialist role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides technical and administrative support for the National Park Service Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) and Cultural Resources grant programs.
  • Coordinates the selection and obligation of grant funds, and processes amendments and closeouts in the NPS financial systems. Process amendments and obligates funds In the NPS financial systems.
  • Logs incoming grant project documents. including progress reports, final reports, and documents related to compliance with grant agreements terms and conditions
  • Answers general telephone and email inquiries related to grant submissions
  • Maintains grant project files in the Division, both paper and digital, ensuring that they are properly organized and stored and that information related to projects Is readily available to staff.
