Planning & Development Summer Intern

Primarily responsible for assisting planners with heritage resources and historic preservation assignments and land use entitlements/development review, including research and the production of written and graphic materials.  Other tasks may relate to public outreach and engagement and conducting research and analysis on planning topics. GIS projects, database management, and report creation and presentation opportunities are possible, as well as other support services identified by staff. The intern will work under the direction of Planning Division-Heritage Resources or Zoning Evaluation Division staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education.

Preferred Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree program.

Qualifications and Skills: Job skills related to research, project management and planning, and other related fields. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Publisher, and Adobe.

Required education and experience: 

Knowledge in urban planning, zoning, heritage resources, or related field 
Knowledge of geographic information systems mapping and analysis
Proficiency with written and verbal communications, including social media and other online communication
Familiarity with primary and secondary source research
