The Planner I will engage in a variety of planning initiatives which may involve land use, infrastructure, buildings, natural resources, transportation, and space. Work includes: gathering, analyzing and presenting tabular, written and graphic data to inform campus planning initiatives and program development; gathering, assembling and developing data and drawings to support design and construction projects; and developing, maintaining, analyzing and presenting asset databases, floorplans and geospatial and 3D campus planning models.
The successful candidate will: report to the Director of Planning in Facilities Management; interface and work with Senior Planners and Project Managers; develop and maintain positive working relationships with campus constituents; collect, analyze and present complex datasets; and interpret basic elements of design and construction documents. As the successful candidate gains experience, the Planner I will be given progressively more responsibility and autonomy to manage assigned planning and programming projects.
- Bachelor's Degree in Planning or a related field
- Must be adept with AutoCAD and Excel software
- Strong analytical, spatial and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Note: Additional related experience and formal education may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One to two years of related work experience that demonstrate the candidate has gained the knowledge, skills and abilities required for full performance of the work
- Prior work experience in higher education with space planning, facilities management or a related field
- Educational background in Architecture, Engineering, Geographic Information Systems or Data Analytics
- Specific experience with ArcGIS, Sketchup, Adobe Creative software and database applications
