WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Maryland/DC Chapter's Baltimore Program team works across scales to improve the health and resiliency of frontline communities and cultural lanscapes in the Baltimore-Metro Region. The Landscape Architecture/Design Intern will integrate with our cross-disciplinary team contributing to climate adaptation, climate justice, and design research projects to aim to positively impact people and nature. We will hold space to learn from and share with each other in a spirit of collaboration, curiosity, and confident humility that is grounded in mutual respect for people and the planet. Together, we will meaningfully advance processes and projects that support on the ground restoration in Turner Station, MD, climate adaptation in the Baltimore Harbor, and institutional change at TNC. We expect to work in-person and remotely. Due to the nature of our partnerships and projects, we think the Landscape Achitecture/Design Intern will have the best experience if located in Baltimore, MD for the period of the internship. This internship will pay $25/hour. The expected total compensation for this role is approximately $10,000 for an estimated 400 hours of work.

Responsibilities

WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU

We're looking for a person who is passionate about people, the planet, and landscape architecture. We want a colleague who is self-motivated, inspired, and team-oriented - capable of contributing to and learning from our diverse and dedicated staff. Your experience in landscape architecture, community engagement, and equitable conservation will add value to our team and your skills in design (Rhino, Adobe CC, GIS, and AutoCAD), communications (verbal and visual), and research (user surveys, field work) will advance our mission. Students currently enrolled in BLA and/or MLA programs are encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in BIPOC students and first-generation students including those who meet the criteria for the Landscape Architecture Foundation's Ignite Program.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Candidate for the Landscape Architecture/Design Internship position will have the following qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate landscape architecture degree program.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Design and graphic skills including proficiency with Rhino, Adobe CC, GIS, and Microsoft Office.
  • Authentic experience engaging with frontline communities.
  • Design research experience including user surveys and field work.

SALARY INFORMATION

This internship will pay $25/hour.
