Human Resources Specialist at Supportive Family Housing

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Human Resources (HR) Specialist is an important link to ensure quality services both internally and externally. They correspond with the public, applicants, candidates, staff, and management to answer questions regarding HR policies and practices. This position leads and coordinates the efficient processing of agency recruiting, staffing, training, benefits, and other HR functions.

Responsibilities

The Specialist ensures positive employee relations through proactive problem solving, with a focus on customer service, and on-going process improvement. They maintain HR-related record-keeping including both online and physical filing and distributions. The Specialist liaises with payroll, IT, union representatives, and other departments to ensure quality, timely, and accurate processing. Compass Housing Alliance will employ two HR Specialists who will be cross trained across all HR support functions, but whose day-to-day expectations may focus on a particular area, such as recruiting or training.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work experience is a key factor for success in this role. In addition, success in this role requires a passion for knowledge and drive for continuing professional development or education. Bachelor’s degree or certification in business, public administration, human resources services, or related field would be a compliment to the required experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in an administrative support role, with emphasis on quality customer service, required.
  • At least 1 year of data entry experience, ideally with proficiency and accuracy concerning high volumes of data, required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in general HR, support services, and/or recruiting, desired.
  • Experience working in databases (HRIS and/or ATS) such as Oracle Taleo, Abila MIP, or DayForce, desired.
  • Awareness and/or training around issues of equity, intersectionality, and belonging.
  • Familiarity with topics of housing instability, mental health, substance use, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, desired.
  • Valid WA driver’s license, proof of car insurance, and a driving record that meets Compass standards, desired.
