The Environmental Finance Center (EFC) at the University of Maryland is housed in the School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation – Maryland’s Built Environment School. EFC is one of 10 centers across the country providing communities with the tools and information necessary to manage change for a healthy environment and an enhanced quality of life. Our focus is protecting natural resources and watersheds by strengthening the capacity of local decision makers to analyze environmental problems, develop innovative and effective methods of financing environmental efforts and educate communities about the role of finance and economic development in the protection of the environment.
What We Are Looking For
EFC is seeking graduate students for the spring 2021 semester. Students successful in this position may be offered work in subsequent semesters. Students are an invaluable part of EFC, and depending on qualifications and availability, will be given a range of responsibilities that will provide “real world” experience and help with resume building. Students with the following skills, experience and/or interest in the specified focus areas are encouraged to apply.
Students will work collaboratively with faculty and other students but are generally expected to work independently and be self-motivated. Self-motivation is of particular importance in the current environment as the EFC team will continue to work remotely until phase 3 research centers return to campus.
Students will be compensated on an hourly basis (10-20 Hours/Week) at a rate of $17-$18/hr depending on year (i.e. 1st year, 2nd year,…) and experience. Please note that due to the nature of our grant funding, we are unable to offer assistantships/tuition remission at this time.
