Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Disaster Resilience and Adaptation with a strong background in natural resources management to join our dynamic team. As a director, you will play a critical role in securing and managing state, local, and federal grants primarily through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and the Inflation Reduction Act to support our initiatives and programs along the Mississippi River corridor. Your expertise in grant management and your ability to bridge the gap between conservation, resilience/climate mitigation efforts will be essential to success.
Responsibilities:
• Research, identify, and pursue relevant state, local, and federal grant opportunities to support
our programs and initiatives.
• Work with communities large and small to develop natural infrastructure projects.
• Work with numerous external organizations, both large and small to develop natural
infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and submit grant proposals, ensuring compliance with all requirements and deadlines.
• Manage the entire grant lifecycle, including some grant writing, budget development, reporting, and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive grant strategies and align
them with organizational goals.
• Bridge the gap between conventional conservation work and cutting-edge disaster resilience and climate mitigation efforts to enhance the sustainability of local communities along the
Mississippi River corridor. Provide guidance and support to program managers in the implementation and management of
grant-funded projects.
• Maintain accurate records of grant activities, financials, and reporting requirements.
• Bachelor's or Master's (preferred) degree in natural resources management, environmental
science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in state, local, and federal grant management. Experience
can compensate for varied educational background.
• Proven track record of successfully securing and managing grants in the natural resources or
environmental field.
• In-depth knowledge of grant application processes, requirements, and compliance standards.
• Strong understanding of natural resources management, conservation, disaster resilience, and climate mitigation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate
complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in grant applications and reporting.
• Strong history of work with multiple partners both governmental and non-governmental.
